An oft held axiom revered in fantasy football is that wide receivers start to peak in their 3rd season. Let’s crunch the numbers to see what they reveal. First we’ll look at WR’s in their 3rd season in 2009, and then WR’s in their 2nd season in 2009 to see who may be poised for a breakout in 2010. For purposes of comparison we’ll rank the players by number of receptions. WR’s in their 3rd season Steve Smith (NYG) – [...]

It’s time to look at the 2009 rookie class and see how they performed. They are ranked by NFL stats as opposed to fantasy points. This group holds a lot of promise for some future stars in the offing. QB’s (ranked by TD’s) Matthew Stafford – 2267 yds, 13 TD’s, 20 INT, 53.3% comp Mark Sanchez – 2444 yds, 12 TD’s, 20 INT, 53.8% comp Josh Freeman – 1857 yds, 10 TD’s, 18 INT, 54.6% comp Keith Null – 566 [...]

Top Performers: 2009 Season Time to look at the top fantasy performers for the entire season. Well, it’s a wrap – the 2009 season has ended and the NFL playoffs begin. Keep in mind that this weeks stats are somewhat skewed by some teams benching their star players. QB’s Brian Hoyer got a chance to strut his stuff but didn’t do much. Matt Leinart did little to show he’s the Cardinals QB of the future. Daunte Culpepper had a decent game for a change. Julius Edelman just missed the cut here given his dual eligibility at [...]

And then there were none – the Colts are no longer undefeated. They pulled their starters with only a slim lead in the game, thus ensuring the loss. The Steelers managed to hang onto a faint playoff hope thanks to all the Ravens penalties and dropped balls. QB’s Matt Moore had a strong showing. Brian Brohm was less than spectacular in his debut. Charlie Frye did little to impress. Drew Stanton was terrible in his first start and was yanked [...]

Only one undefeated team left standing after the Saints were beaten by the Cowboys – can the Colts keep their streak going??? QB’s The Browns scored a ton of points, but it had nothing to do with Brady Quinn who had 0 TD’s and 2 INT. Charlie Frye was less than stellar in his start for the Raiders, but they managed to beat the Broncos in spite of him. Jay Cutler was pitiful – 0 TD’s, 3 INT and a [...]

Top Performers: Week 14 Well, for some this was week 1 of fantasy playoffs, the rest probably start this coming weekend. Good luck to all those still in the playoff hunt! QB’s Keith Null left a lot to be desired in his first start – 1 TD, 5 INT and a QB ranking of 37.8! Dante Culpepper was also terrible, filling in for Mathew Stafford – his ranking was 33.3 Kellen Clemens stunk in his first start for the Jets [...]

This was the week of the underdogs – Raiders over the Steelers, Dolphins over the Patriots and the Saints needed overtime to defeat the Redskins. QB’s Michael Vick had a rushing TD and also 1 TD passing in his return to Atlanta. Chris Redman had a terrible outing. Bruce Gradkowski, Jason Campbell, Brady Quinn and Chad Henne all had solid performances. Matt Moore got the win in his first start, but his numbers weren’t very good. Notable: Tony Romo – [...]

Wow, the Saints really laid a beating on the Patriots (who showed their usual penchant for not liking the taste of humble pie!) QB’s When Matt Ryan went down, Chris Redman filled in admirably. Jake Delhomme regressed to his early season type numbers, which is to say he was terrible. Vince Young was impressive with a 99 yd drive at the end of the game that climaxed with a TD as the clock expired to give the Titans the win. [...]

Couple of shockers this week – Chiefs over the Steelers and Raiders over the Bengals!!! The NFL likes to push parity, but all the Chiefs & Raiders have provided the past few years is parody! QB’s Brady Quinn had a big week, scoring 3 TD’s in the first quarter alone! Alex Smith had a bad first half, but managed to bounce back in the second half of the game. Matt Stafford scored a rookie record 5 TD’s, and showed some [...]
